A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...
We allow many things into our minds, at times purposely, at other times unwittingly. "The DaVinci Code". With Tom Hanks starring in the lead role, featuring a popular book that I had never read. The story revolved around a heretical concept of Jesus not actually dying on the cross, and fathering a family with Mary Magdalene which was kept hidden from the masses. This is not only a lie, but a dangerous one at that. This movie did much damage. When Jesus sent out the 70 in Luke 10, He said in Luke 10:3, "Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.
We read in 1 John 5:11-13, "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." This truth is so clearly laid out. But this is not the prevailing thought in our society. Part of the reason for this is that those who know the truth choose to remain silent, preferring to fly under the radar, hoping that no one will detect their Christianity. Edmund Burke, who lived in the 1700's, said, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Even though we are all sinners, those of us in Christ, have the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ. Yet we allow our loved ones to be shaped by the lies that permeate society, and often remain in a state of biblical illiteracy rendering ourselves impotent to even convey the truth. We read in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." We, as Christians, have been called into action, but how few of us respond as Isaiah did in Isaiah 6:8, "...Here am I! Send me."
We have to pause for a moment and take stock of our lives and the lives of those we are called to influence for the cause of God. What do we have playing on the television sets in our homes considering 99% of it is godless in nature. Do we consider this harmless? There are alternatives, but most prefer to underestimate the harm of this godless influence. There is social media on the phones which are always in our hands. This social media is primarily godless in nature. Are we so naive as to think that these sites are having no influence on our loved ones. There are ways to limit this, but do we bother fighting back. Our kids go off to school being under the continuous teaching of a godless curriculum. Even worse we spend tens of thousands of our hard-earned money to send our children off to universities where largely atheistic professors captivate and steal the minds of our youth. There are alternatives such as a Christian education, homeschooling, Christian Universities, etc., but do we minimize the harms of these influences. Lastly, do we simply shut up and do nothing. Many say they pray for their children. This is well and good, but it is like sending our three year old on the streets of Manhattan and simply praying that nothing happens to them. Unless we are willing to become students of God's Word armed with the truth we are unable to stand up for the things of God. Then not timidly, but unless we boldly state what we know what truth is, we are allowing the godless culture to win. We have a part to play, and this part never ends until we breathe our last and get to be with Jesus in heaven. We cannot allow the lies to permeate those in our sphere of influence without clearly standing for the truth. Flying under the radar is never what Jesus would have advised us to do.
THIS WEEKS MEMORY VERSE
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us. ~1 John 4:18-19

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
A weak Christian and a strong Christ shall be able to do all. Nothing will be too hard for that man who has the strength of Christ to enable him, and the Spirit of Christ to work with him.
