A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...

When certain questions are asked, and certain things are revealed opportunities arise. We as believers should be continuously screening for warning signs for unbelief.

Jesus states these sobering words in Matthew 7:21-23, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" Many will look the part, but unbelievers are what they actually are. We read this from the Great Physician, Himself, in Luke 5:31-32, "Jesus answered and said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Some unbelievers are obvious; but others require a little screening. But none of this can take place unless we are willing to be vulnerable and enter into relationships. Are we willing to engage? Do we engage the workers at the local stores? Our co-workers? Our family members? Our neighbors? Even at church, there are many who attend who have not made that decision. But we will never know this unless we engage. When someone has no interest in reading God's Word or talking about the things of God this is a symptom that should be delved into for that individual's own good. As Discipleship Home Groups begin again, we should not miss the importance of these small groups in which relationships develop and those who are struggling or may not yet have made a decision for Jesus can be detected. As Jesus said in Luke 10:2, "...The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." We can only become laborers, if we are willing to enter into relationships, even if it leads to awkward moments.

THIS WEEKS MEMORY VERSE

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, ...But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. ~Joshua 24:15

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

"One of the greatest snares is the number of good things we might do. Jesus Christ never did the good things He might have done, He did everything He ought to do because He had His eye fixed on His Father's will and He sacrificed Himself for His Father." -Oswald Chambers
